Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use RSL Ultimate shuttlecocks instead of RSL Supreme?

To maintain consistent play quality across all sessions, only RSL Supreme shuttlecocks are accepted. RSL Ultimate and all other variants will not be accepted. Members who require shuttlecocks may purchase RSL Supreme from the Team Manager at the prevailing rate of $4 per piece.

The residential status shown on the booking portal does not match my actual address.

Your tier classification — Tier 1 or Tier 2 — is determined by the IC address submitted during your PA Singpass-verified registration. If you believe there is a discrepancy, please contact the Admin Team directly. Updates to residential status are subject to verification and may take time to process.

I am unable to locate the booking portal.

The booking portal is accessible at badminton.xela.sg. We recommend bookmarking the link or saving it to your phone's home screen for easy access. If you continue to experience difficulties, please reach out to the Admin Team.

I have no prior badminton experience. Can I still join?

Absolutely. Our Up to High Beginner sessions are designed to welcome players of all experience levels, including complete newcomers. Simply complete your PA registration, wait for verification, and join us on court. Our members are welcoming, and sessions are a great place to pick up the game in a friendly and supportive environment.

My friend registered via FormSG but has not been added to the WhatsApp group.

Registration via FormSG initiates the PA Singpass verification process, which may take up to 2 weeks. Once verification is approved, the Admin Team will activate your friend's booking access and add them to the WhatsApp group. If verification has already been completed but your friend has not been contacted, please reach out to the Admin Team with your friend's registered mobile number.

How do I check my residential status on the booking portal?

After entering your registered mobile number on the booking portal, your member profile card will display your tier classification (Tier 1 or Tier 2) along with your skill tier. If the information displayed is incorrect, please contact the Admin Team.

A match result was submitted against me that I disagree with. What should I do?

Match results are confirmed immediately when submitted and your Elo on Find Birdie updates automatically. There is no self-service dispute window. If you believe a result was submitted incorrectly, please contact the Admin Team via the WhatsApp group with the match details (session date, players involved, and the correct score). A Team Manager will review and correct the record if needed.

Note that all 4 players involved in a match receive an email acknowledgement when a result is submitted. If you receive a notification for a match you did not play, flag it to the Admin Team promptly.

What is the purpose of the Leaderboard?

The Leaderboard tracks member performance using an Elo-based rating system, adapted from the FIDE chess rating model. Match results update your rating and determine your tier — from Fledgling through to Peregrine. It adds a competitive and rewarding dimension to our sessions, helping members track their progress over time and find well-matched games. Win rate is displayed only after a minimum of 5 games to ensure statistical reliability.

Why are sessions divided by skill level, and does this restrict which session I can book?

Sessions are structured into two skill tiers — Up to High Beginner and Lower Intermediate & Above — to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for players at every level. Significant skill mismatches on court can detract from the quality of play for all participants. Members are expected to self-select the sub-session that best reflects their current level. If you are unsure of your tier, the Admin Team is happy to advise. Note that skill tier is separate from slot allocation, which is governed by residency status and overall session capacity.
